This article is similar to how my mom feels, she worries about a few of the things that were on the list of things that parents really should. My mom doesnt really worry about the drownings and suicides that much because she doesnt think its too likely too happen, especially since I dont like being around water anyway.

  6. The things I worry about:
    - School/grades
    - Getting into a college
    - Family
    - Gettin a job
    - My appearance

The things my parents worry about:
    - Their children future
    - Giving me the resources to get a good education
    - Family
    - Their jobs
    - Their children decisions

There's similarities and differences between what I worry about and what my parents worry about. We have several similarities like my education and family is very important for both but we also have differences for example my parents don't worry about the way I look but I do.

  7. Its alot of differences because it depends on the envoirment you grew up in and how parents can base it of what they need to worry about with there children. Some things that are simialr is like abuse or drugs no parent would ever want there children to be under the influence or hurt- and that was in the top five of my list. The difference between the articles and the list is that most people dont worry about there kids drowing i never heard of that because most people around here dont go swimming- and if they do its lifeguards ready and trained to help you. The articles list is okay but i think my top five is more up to date with the 21st century.

  8. My ideas compare more to what the parents thought. I always worry that this can happen because although it's rare it happens. And it could happen when you least expect it because you least expect it. The real list of how children get hurt/killed wasn't new to me. I always think of the lesser "traumatic" things in the back of my mind, but I always try to prepare myself for the worst, and hope for the best. I am already afraid of driving and falling asleep driving so the car accident things is always in the back of my mind. Getting killed is like number one on all parents minds, and it happens ALL the time so I woulnd't be surprised if every person asked this said this. It all depends on the person, and their situations in which if their child is getting picked on or showing signs of being bullied, then they should be concerned but other than that, it's something that people don't really expect, which is probably why it happens so much.

  9. The list in the article is no where near the same as mine. They dont even touch on the same subject except for the saftey issue. My parents probably worried about me being kidnapped and stuff when I was in elementary school and middle school. The only thing on the kids list that I said that I never worried about was drowning. Now my parents and I worry more about the future of me being on my own since it is around the corner. One thing that is similar is my mother always told me to put my seatbelt on in the car. Based on the article I think my mom worries about the revlevant dangers things that really could happen. The only person I think that worries about things that will never ever happen is my father. I dont think that it makes me scared of the world though because I know that they probably wont happen.

  10. cont....I think that alot of other parents do this too. I know alot of my friends moms tell them about these things that happen on tv and then they call their phone every two seconds. That I think can make some one paranoid to the world.

  11. The top five things i worry about, not in the order, is 1. My car, 2. My little brothers and sister, 3.College, 4. Money, 5. My bros.
These thing i put i do worry about but i don't know how i would rate them because all these thing have a lot of importance to me and they all weigh pretty even in my mind.

The top five thing my parents worry about me is 1.Getting shot, 2. Getting robbed, 3. College, 4. Me able to live successful, 5. Having a family.
I really don't knoww wat my parents worry about so i most of wat i put is generic cuz i really don't know.

  12. In reality, some parents do worry too much. Several things that parents worry about are usually absolutely rare and have the least chance of happening to their child. “Barnes says parents fixate on rare events because they internalize horrific stories they hear on the news or from a friend without stopping to think about the odds the same thing could happen to their children.” Parents just need to learn to loosen up. A difference between my list and the list in the article is that my list contains more of an educational view rather than my parents being obsessed with me having a “horrific” occurrence. I’m not saying my parents don’t worry about my safety, my first listing was about my safety, but they aren’t worried about me walking outside and getting kidnapped every day. If my parents revolved their worries around my safety I would probably be a worried wreck. I’m fine with them being worried about my future and trying to make sure I know what I want out of life. These should be the concerns of all parents.
    I worry about:
    -My school work being complete.
    -Getting into college; receiving scholarships.
    -My appearance; keeping myself together.
    -My family and their wellbeing.
-Being less stressed and healthy in all aspects.
    My parents worry about:
    -My safety, me getting hurt.
-My decisions, me making wrong choices.
-My future, me achieving my goals.
-My priorities being straight, keeping me on track.
-My emotional growth, staying emotionally healthy.

5 things that I worry about:
    • Money
    • Homework
    • My grades
    • My job
    • My future
5 things that my parents worry about happening to me:
    • Me getting killed
    • Me being kidnapped
    • Me getting robbed
    • Me not making something of my self
    • Me not being successful
Some of the things that the parents worry about are actually unrealistic. I don’t think my parents worry about the same things that the other parents worry about. My parents worry about things that have actually happened or that are happening right now to children in my neighborhood. I don’t really worry about anything that much because I know how to keep myself out situations that might put me at risk for any of those things. I don’t worry about accidents like drowning and things like drugs because I have other things that I have to focus on. So in reality I don’t have time to worry about things like that. As long as I’m doing what I need to do I don’t have to worry about bad things happening to me.

  14. • Making it to 21
    • Getting into a great college
    • Getting through my senior year with honors
    • Going back to jail
    • My grandmother or mother dying

    • Getting caught up in the streets
    • Going back to jail and messing up my future
    • What I’m doing when I’m outside
    • The way I think at times
    • People I hangout with

I feel that the article is very correct. Most parents worry about the wrong things. My mother always tells me she worries about everything when she worries about her children because anything is possible and anything could happen to us. The only thing on the list that my mother really talks about me dying in a car crash. This is only because I almost never wear my seatbelt when I’m riding in a backseat. I think there are so many differences because she watches lots of T.V. She relates me to many movies and other things that she has seen on T.V. I think that this kind of bad because like the article says T.V. isn’t always reality or very much likely to happen to children these days.
